About

The Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club is proud to be celebrating its 23rd year. The Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club is incorporated as a tax-exempt, 501(c3) charitable organization. Milwaukee Sting exists primarily to provide an opportunity for highly motivated volleyball players to develop and enhance their skills through participation several junior volleyball associations (AAU, JVA & USAV). Quality practice time, under the direction of one of the best junior coaching staffs in the country, along with offering players the chance to compete against high level teams from around the country make the Milwaukee Sting experience worthwhile.

For the 2011-2012 season
Milwaukee Sting is fielding 22-24 teams in age groups, ranging from 10′s through 18′s.

Our goals are:

  • Provide intense and competitive practice opportunities (including Specialty & Strength/Agility)
  • Provide the highest quality coaching staff in the state
  • Participate in top regional and national tournaments at both the USAV & AAU level
  • Facilitate communication between our athletes and college coaches

Teams are selected through an open tryout process conducted in November. Practices are held 2-3 times per week, at either Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee or Center Court Sports Complex in Waukesha. These facilities are only 3 miles apart. Our season runs through the AAU Championships held the last week of June in Orlando, Florida.

Why Milwaukee Sting?

Our success over the past several seasons has made Milwaukee Sting a national power. Our athletes are known by college coaches to be well trained and highly experienced. Since 1993, we have averaged 11 teams per year at the USAV/AAU/JVA National Championships and have had 85 players honored as All American’s/Junior Nationals/All-Tournament. Twelve out of the last 15 years a Sting team has finished in the top 3 at the national tournament. 2002 proved to be a breakthrough year with 3 teams winning medals. In 2001 and 2004 Sting brought home the coveted Gold Medal in the 17 Open (’01) and 16 Open Divisions (’04). At the 2008 inaugural JVDA Championships, Sting finished with 1 Gold Medal in the 16 Club and 3 Silver Medals in 17 Club, 15 Open & 13 Club. In 2010 both 17 Black & 14 Gold finished with Bronze medals at the AAU Championships in Orlando and in 2011 we saw 5 of our teams finish in the top 10 at the same event. A multitude of Sting players have gone on to further their careers at the NCAA Division I, II, III & NAIA levels. Sting alumni have been NCAA All-Americans as well as have gone on to play professionally. Many of our alumni are either coaching in the college ranks or have returned to coach for Milwaukee Sting. We are very proud of them all.

Milwaukee Sting prides itself in seeking out not only coaches with strong volleyball backgrounds but also those that work hard to help our young athletes become great individuals on and off of the court.
